About Ally Gwozdz & Curate Interiors

Curate founder Ally Gwozdz, based in San Francisco, seeks out gorgeous design elements from unexpected sources to create eclectic yet refined spaces. She harmoniously blends vintage with contemporary, comfort with sophistication all with an eye toward creating a space that reflects her clients’ personality. 

Ally has had a lifelong passion for design, and it shows in her work. The daughter of a homebuilder, she was exposed at an early age to the collaborative process of creating custom homes. Ally furthered her design curiosity when she studied and traveled abroad during university. She was deeply inspired by the extraordinary, diverse architecture of the European continent and marveled at the strong influence culture has on design aesthetics.

Ally’s professional path has been dedicated to sourcing and finding beautiful home decor. She launched her career as a buyer for the home furnishings boutique and design firm WorldWare, where she deftly matched customer’s needs with the various high-end product lines offered. Spotted as a rising tastemaker, Ally soon joined the merchandising team at Pottery Barn’s corporate headquarters, where she spent several years developing unique assortments of upholstered furnishings, flooring, art and accessories with suppliers around the globe for the Pottery Barn Catalog.

Taking her enthusiasm for sourcing distinct home products a step further, Ally later struck out on her own and launched Magpie, a business specializing in finding one-of-a-kind furnishings from the country’s best estate sales and weekend markets. As her reputation for unique finds grew, Ally was occasionally commissioned to outfit entire rooms. She soon learned that she loved the creative process of redefining a room around her fabulous finds as much as the hunt for furnishings. Magpie evolved into a full-service decorating business in 2007 with the launch of Curate Interiors, the full-scale interior decorating and sourcing firm it is today.
